Once I had chosen my shape to go on the canvas I used a pin to poke holes through my foamboard to draw around so that I knew where to cut. I know this seems an odd way of doing things, but it worked.
After my shape was drawn.
Cutting around my chosen shape to place on top of my canvas.
I then repeated this process for the other 5 surrounding canvases .
